Peter Saunders joined Deloitte in 1990 and throughout that time has worked with professional service firms. Upon his return in 1995 from a two year secondment to the US, he has specialised in this field. Peter was admitted to the Partnership in 2001 and since 2003 has led the audit business of Deloitte's industry-leading Professional Practices Group.
While the majority of his clients are UK and US legal practices, including some of the world's leading firms, he also serves Architects, Surveyors and PR businesses. Peter is responsible for the audit and client-money compliance work on a number of solicitor clients, ranging from large international firms to smaller domestic specialist practices. He frequently advises on the commercial aspects of law-firm management, mergers and financial reporting. He has also acted as expert witness in client-money fraud cases.
He chairs the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies' working party which is responsible for the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) for LLPs. Peter is a regular speaker on matters relevant to law firms such as performance management, LLP incorporation and financial benchmarking. He has had articles published in The Times and 'Accountancy' on LLP issues.
In addition to the Professional Practices sector, Peter also acts for corporate clients in the leisure, art and recruitment sectors.
