For the first time in many years, partnership tax issues are now being litigated in the country’s highest courts. The Court of Appeal has heard several partnership tax cases since 2023, and two of these will be heard by the Supreme Court in the next few months (HFFX on partnership profit allocation in June 2025, and BlueCrest on the salaried members rules in early 2026). These cases will set important long-term precedents for partnership tax advisers. Dominic Robertson of Slaughter and May, who has advised on many of these appeals, will update us on what advisers need to know – and what to expect from the Supreme Court.
